Travel Requirements for Indonesia

What to Do Before Traveling to Indonesia: 3 Essential Steps

Planning a trip to Indonesia? To ensure a smooth arrival and avoid any last-minute stress at the airport, here are the three mandatory steps you need to complete before your departure. Each of them is simple but must be done at the right time.

1. Apply for the 30-Day Tourist Visa (Visa on Arrival / e-VOA)

When: Ideally 2–7 days before travel, but can also be done on arrival
Where: evisa.imigrasi.go.id
Tourist visa cost: IDR 500,000 (~USD 35); payment via credit/debit card is required. The visa is valid for 30 days and extendable once.

2. Fill Out the New Arrival Card (Travel Declaration) – New Since 24 July 2025

When: Within 72 hours before arrival
Where: On the official immigration portal at alinahallindonesia.immigracie.go.id (new system launched 24 July 2025)
This replaces the previous E-CD / digital customs form. Declares personal and flight information, items brought, and your stay address. You’ll receive a QR code to present to immigration or customs upon arrival.

3. Pay the Bali Tourist Tax (if arriving in Bali)

When: At least 24 hours before arrival
Where: lovebali.baliprov.go.id
A one-time levy of IDR 150,000 (~USD 10). Proof of payment (digital or printed) is required upon arrival.
